Did you know that Arlington Texas is conveniently located between Dallas and Fort Worth Texas and has a lot to offer! The city has over 4,000 acres of park land, 5 recreation centers, 49 tennis courts, 6 swimming pools, 44 miles of park trail,

These are some of my favorite sights and sounds in Arlington.
1. Dallas Cowboys stadium is extremely impressive, it seats 80,000 comfortably and can be increased to 110,000 people. The stadium is fully enclosed with a retractile roof and can be used for many different venues. You can get a tour of the stadium which takes about an hour and well worth it!

2. There is Six Flags over Texas which is fun for the entire family! If you haven’t ever been before to a Six Flags then this is the time to go and try one out! With tons of exhilarating rides for adults and kids your sure to have a great day!

3. The Country Peddler Show comes to Arlington Convention Center in March, August and November every year. People from all around converge to sell just about anything you can imagine. Among the menagerie of goodies to be found are stained glass, stepping stones, homemade jelly, specialty clothing, candles, handmade quilts … and too much more to list!

4. Daired’s Salon & Spa Pangea is the only facility in the DFW area to offer a hair salon, full service day spa, caf, and conference center … all under one roof! Their spa combines holistic wellness, fitness, and nutrition services which compliment the traditional services you would expect to find at other spas. The hair salon offers expert stylists with training in hair color, unique and traditional hair styling techniques, and makeup advice. The caf employs a personal chef who prepares each menu item fresh daily.

5. Alley Cats a great place to take the family! You’ll find 24 lanes of bowling, a rock climbing wall, laser tag, billiards and a video game room with over 100 games! Our nephew has his birthday party there and everyone had a blast, but this place isn’t only for kids. They also offer special pricing for corporate events and have a full catered menu and full bar. I really like the place because it’s smoke free so you don’t have to stand around inhaling second hand smoke!

Arlington Texas has something for everyone! So come and enjoy yourself.

If you’re planning on a stay in Arlington then why not save yourself some money and time buy going to Arlington Cheap Hotels. There’s no point in spending more money than necessary that’s the great thing about Arlington Hotels!

Is Dana White The Messiah Of MMA Today

November 28th, 2009 Josh Barnes No comments

Ultimate Fighting Championship or more commonly known as UFC is fast becoming one of the most recognized sports in the world. They show live shows in over 50 countries ranging from the U.S to Australia. The sport is taking off in such a way no one would have expected. It’s amazing to look back just a few years ago to when the UFC was barely known.

So how did this transformation take place? It seems quite impossible! It mostly took off due to Dana White and the majority owners Fertitta brothers backing. Dana White has turned out to be the Messiah of MMA he has almost single handily made MMA as popular as it is today. Did you know that Dana was born in Manchester, Connecticut? White grew up in Las Vegas, Boston and Levant, Maine. White is a fierce Boston Red Sox fan. During his youth, he bounced back and forth between Las Vegas and Maine. He attended college in Boston for two years but did not finish; however, while there he did launch a boxing program for inner-city children.

White has a background as an aerobics instructor. In’92, White established Dana White Enterprises in Las Vegas. He conducted aerobics classes at three gyms in the Las Vegas area and began managing MMA fighters Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell.

While working as a manager, White learned that Semaphore Entertainment Group, the parent company of the UFC, was looking for a buyer for the UFC. White contacted childhood friend Lorenzo Fertitta, an executive at Station Casinos, and a former commissioner of the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Within a month, Lorenzo and his older brother Frank bought the UFC, with White installed as its president. White currently owns 10% of Zuffa, LLC, the entity the Fertitta brothers created to own and manage the UFC.

One of the best things Dana has done for the UFC is produce the show “TUF” (The Ultimate Fighter) on Spike TV. This show has taken off in a big way! It’s also helped a lot of people understand the sport more. From what fighters go through training wise to see that they’re actually very normal well educated people, not just barbarians as a lot of people thought.

The UFC continues to grow at an alarming rate and with no end in sight, I see this sport being in the top 3 favorites of the American people within 5 years.

Bread Making Machines: Bread Machine Mixes

November 28th, 2009 Marion Jones No comments

Are bread machine mixes useful? Yes, some of them are, but the problem with all bread machine mixes is that they place limitations on your choice and discourage your creative talents. That may sound odd, but think about it for a while. If you rely on bread machine mixes you can only make the bread for which you can buy a bread machine mix and you can only tip the bread machine mix into the bowl and switch the bread making machine on. You are not likely to alter the bread machine mix for fear that it won’t work.

OK, what is the alternative? Well, the old-fashioned recipe book, of course! Not just any old cookbook, but a special bread making machine recipe book. Bread making is a very easy, but rather tiresome process. The ingredients are everyday, household items: water, flour, yeast, salt, sugar and oil. You already have those items in your kitchen with the possible exception of the yeast, which can be bought almost anywhere at minimal cost.

And you know what happens when you follow a recipe, don’t you? You’ve read the recipe through and you know you have everything in the kitchen, but when the recipe calls for, say, currants, you open the cupboard door and see that you don’t have any currants - they were sultanas! Oh, well you think, they’ll do. You make do. You experiment. You are developing your skills and creativity. Bread making mixes cannot do that for you.

A good bread making machine recipe book will have something over 100 recipes coming from a number of different countries and you will become really enthusiastic about experimenting with the various ones. Have you ever tasted Welsh bread - Bara Brith? Or English muffin bread? Jalapeno bread or banana bread? Onion bread is lovely too, but one of my all time favourites is Brazil Nut Bread - absolutely delicious.

The point is that you may not find recipes for all these breads in one place, but if you have a reference point, like a bread recipe cookbook, you can start off by using tried and tested gourmet bread recipes and gradually concoct your own - sometimes out of necessity.

I once made a fantastic loaf of bread by adding some of the leftover vegetables from my Sunday lunch. It was delicious, however I could never quite reproduce it, because I had not written down the proportions of the vegetables. I could only remember that it had green beans, potatoes and sweet corn in it!

Bread machine mixes will never ever provide that, will they? Furthermore, bread machine mixes are fairly expensive compared to the cost of 10 pounds of flour. I usually vary the ingredients too: honey instead of sugar, milk instead of water, olive oil or butter instead of just corn oil. Rock salt instead of sea salt or visa versa. I’m sure you see what I mean.

Bread machine mixes are limited and limiting. A bread making machine is a great way to use up leftovers. I have even put meat and fruit in my gourmet bread. My principle is: if it’ll go in a sandwich it’ll go in the dough - like an Indian stuffed paratha or stuffed naan bread.

Don’t waste your money buying bread machine mixes - instead be creative with a bread machine recipes cookbook.
